The tavern has some backpackers accommodation, and it's a good place to stay if you are intending to do a day walk up to the Pinnacles and back. Click here to go to our Backpackers web page.
In previous years, it was possible to camp on the back field at the Tavern. Unfortunately, we can't offer that service any more.
For the 2008/2009 holiday events (27 December to 3 January), the farmer across the road opened his front field for parking. It's $10 a day to park your car there.
There is a camping site about 3 kms up the Tapu Road. The River Glen Holiday Park. It has camping areas, cabins and a large backpackers lodge. Phone 07 866 3130 or Fax 07 866 3290. Click here for their web site.
There is another camping site, about 30 minutes up the Tapu Road (on the Thames side). Sorry, but we have no more details on that site.
There are some cabins and lodges in the Coroglen area, but you need to book very early to find a place there.

They aren't walking distance, so you would still have the parking problem ... well, unless you like walking 2 km's along a country road in the middle of the night !!!!
If there is a large group of people, we provide a shuttle bus to and from these places.
Note: our Backpackers is fully booked for 28 - 29 December 2011. And also for 2 January 2012 and 28 - 29 January 2012. Other dates may be used for Band Nights in that period (we are awaiting confirmation from our promoter). So for now, we can not accept bookings between 27 December and 3 January.
