The Coroglen Tavern is located on State Highway 25, 18 km south of Whitianga, and about 2 to 2.5 hours from Auckland. We are about halfway between Tairua and Whitianga.
You cross a single lane bridge, go around the bend, and there we are, right in front of you, you can't miss us !!!
We are on the corner of State Highway 25 and the road to Tapu. The Tapu Road is a metal road crossing the Coromandel Peninsula from the east to the western side. (For non-New Zealanders, a metal road is a road with stones and shingle, instead of the smooth black tarmac !! The Tapu road is not advised if you are towing a boat or caravan.)
We are open from 11.00 am until .... well, until the last guest heads for home. Sunday and Monday, we generally close at about 8 pm ... Tuesday to Saturday we usually close sometime between 10pm and 1 am. For 12 days in the summer break, we are allowed to stay open until 2 am. Sometimes we will have a special licence allowing us to stay open later. Check out the Events page for information on occasions when we change our usual opening hours.
